Borussia Dortmund chief claims Mino Raiola advice Erling Haaland to snub Manchester United in their favour
Speaking to German publication SPORT1 (h/t The Sun), Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed that Mino Raiola was the reason Erling Haaland snubbed Manchester United in their favour.
The Norwegian sensation has been producing eye-catching performances since his RB Salzburg days and was a prime target for several clubs, including United at that point in time. In fact, the centre-forward was also being linked with a £76million move to Old Trafford in December 2019.
However, that move never panned out as Haaland instead joined hands with Dortmund in January 2020 for a measly fee of £18million. Since joining, the 21-year-old has knocked in 70 goals in 69 games across all competitions and is also a very important reason for the club sitting in the Top 4 of the Bundesliga currently.

While the Red Devils did miss out on a fantastic talent, Dortmund chief executive Watzke has now revealed that the striker joined the Signal Iduna Park outfit on the advice of his agent, Mino Raiola, last year. Watzke told German publication SPORT1 (h/t The Sun):
“The offer from Manchester United was better. However, Mino Raiola realised that Erling is better off with us.”
Raiola has always had a feud with the Old Trafford outfit and also claimed earlier this year that he does not mind if he never sells another player to United, in a conversation with The Athletic (h/t Eurosport).

The Italian super-agent also had major beef with Solskjaer as well last year when he tried to unsettle Paul Pogba amidst his impending contract issue. Things might have been quite different if Haaland had signed for the Red Devils as the club would have been guaranteed goals for nearly a decade, given the youngster’s age & talent.
Regardless, the 13-time Premier League champions are thought to orchestrate a move for the striker next summer.
