Transfer News: High chance that Donny van de Beek could leave Manchester United in January
According to very reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Sports Mole), Donny van de Beek is highly likely to leave Manchester United in the next transfer window. The Dutch international is very frustrated at Manchester due to the lack of playing time.
Van de Beek was bought from AFC Ajax for a fee of £35 million in 2020 following his impressive tenure at Amsterdam. However, the midfielder has struggled to get minutes at Old Trafford last season as well as this season.
The 24-year-old started just four Premier League games last season and is yet to start a game this season. The Dutch midfielder has just played six minutes in the league this season adding to his plight.
Romano has added that there is no substance to the rumours that are linking him to his former club Ajax. The Man Utd player has scored 41 goals in 175 appearances in the Netherlands while winning the Eredivisie in 2019.
Earlier, his agent Guido Albers had revealed that the club blocked a transfer and have guaranteed minutes for the player. However, looking at how things are going so far it is unlikely that the promise is going to be kept.
The former Ajax ace was seen to throw chewing gum in frustration during the game against Villareal in the Champions League. His fellow teammates had to console him as he was left on the bench despite the promise.
