Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci talks about the issues caused by Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus

Speaking to DAZN Italia (h/t 101 Great Goals), Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini explained the issues caused by Cristiano Ronaldo at Turin. Chiellini was a former teammate of Ronaldo during his time in Italy.

Following CR7’s move to Manchester United, Juve had a rough start in Seria A but has turned the tide recently. In the Champions League, the Bianconeri have had a perfect start with nine points in three matches beating the current champions Chelsea in the process.

After the match against Zenit Saint Petersburg, the Italian spoke out on how the Portuguese’s transfer affected the team. The defender also mentioned how the team had to play for the forward to get the best out of him.

“Ronaldo left on 28 August, it would have been better for us if he had left earlier. We paid something for it, a little bit of a shock, we paid something for it in terms of points.”

Adding to the 37-yer-old’s comments, Leonardo Bonucci spoke to Sky Sports (h/t The Sun) and says that the Seria A club plays more as a team after the 36-year-old left. The 34-year-old continued and said that they lost that characteristic during the United forward’s time with them.

“It’s absolutely true [playing more as a team]. In the recent past we had lost this characteristic from Juve, we were playing with a great champion like CR7 and we wanted to put him in a position to always do well, thinking he could solve all the matches.”
