Manchester United could miss Bruno Fernandes in the Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday
According to The Sun (h/t Express), Manchester United are ‘worried about the absence of Bruno Fernandes in a pivotal Premier League clash against rivals Liverpool.
The Portuguese international has played an integral part in this Red Devils squad ever since his switch to Old Trafford. The 27-year-old midfielder has had a great start to the season for the Manchester-based club. He has already scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists for United across 8 matches in the Premier League this campaign.
The former Sporting CP player had a superb outing for the Red Devils in their latest UEFA Champions League encounter against Atalanta B.C. The Old Trafford outfit were trailing 2-0 at halftime but came back with renewed spirits in the second half to win the game with a 3-2 scoreline.
Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire scored two crisp goals for the Red Devils and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the match with a towering header which sealed the deal. Fernandes also played a crucial role by providing a continuous attacking threat throughout the second half. The 27-year-old Portuguese also notched an assist against the Italian club.
It is believed that the midfielder was limping heavily in a warm-down session on Thursday after a gruelling European game in midweek at the Theatre of Dreams. Bruno’s absence could be a big blow for Manchester United. Should he not be available, Jesse Lingard would be the most likely replacement in that position.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could also turn to Donny van de Beek who has struggled to get quality game time ever since he made the switch from Ajax Amsterdam. Liverpool are one of the title contenders and are yet to lose a match this campaign. It would take something really special to defeat the Merseyside club given their recent form.
This task could become even more difficult sans Bruno Fernandes. The Manchester United faithful will be hoping that the Portuguese midfielder would be able to feature against the 2019-20 Premier League winners but as of now, things aren’t looking too rosy.
