Manchester United looking to complete a transfer for Barcelona star Jordi Alba
According to El Nacional (h/t ESPN), Manchester United are looking to get a transfer over the line for Barcelona star Jordi Alba.
The Spanish full-back joined the Blaugrana club in the summer of 2012 and is currently playing his 10th season for the La Liga. In that period, Alba has managed 391 appearances and could hit the 400-mark before the end of 2021. The impressive statistic, however, is that he has managed to score 22 goals and provide 83 assists during that period.
His trophy cabinet is also as decorated as they get as he has won multiple domestic trophies, 1 Champions League trophy, and 1 European Championship with Spain. However, it is thought that his time in Catalonia might be coming to an end.
Jordi Alba to Manchester United?
The Nou Camp outfit are looking to generate funds and could now put the left-back on the market. Manchester United are said to be keeping a close eye on the defender as they look to add quality to their ranks.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently possesses Luke Shaw and Alex Telles on the left-hand side of the defence as the club loaned out Brandon Williams and Ethan Laird this season, and it remains to be seen whether they have a future at the club.
Moreover, Telles will enter the final two years of his deal next summer, while Shaw’s contract will end in 2023, although the club were said to be planning to offer him a new deal.

Regardless, Alba can add a lot of experience and depth as he is showing no signs of slowing down. Despite turning 32 in March this year, the Spaniard made 49 domestic appearances last season.
The Red Devils added serial winners in the form of Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer and they would be smart to add one more as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to take United back to the pinnacle of world football.
