Transfer News: Aston Villa are keen on a deal for Aberdeen starlet Calvin Ramsay amidst Manchester United links
According to journalist Ekrem Konur (h/t Birmingham Live), Aston Villa are eager to orchestrate a transfer for Aberdeen talent Calvin Ramsay amidst interest from Manchester United.
The 18-year-old is turning heads in the Scottish Premiership with his eye-catching performances for Aberdeen. Since Stephen Glass was appointed at the club in March, Ramsay has taken his performances to a new level.
In fact, the young full-back has been entrusted a lot this season as he has featured in all eight league games while he was also a regular in the club’s UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.
His attacking input and enthusiasm to run the channels has helped him gain 6 assists this season. United are eyeing a deal for the youngster as they might be interested in providing some competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The Englishman, for all his defensive qualities, has only contributed to 12 goals in over 100 appearances across the last two seasons. Thus, Ramsay could certainly provide an attacking approach down the right-back role and give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer options in that position.
However, the full-back is also being targeted by Aston Villa too. The Dean Smith-led side have impressed a lot in the Premier League since their promotion and they would be looking to strengthen in some key areas. In addition to United and Villa, Arsenal are also said to be keen on a deal.
