Newcastle United receive boost in a potential transfer for Manchester United star Jesse Lingard amidst presence of representatives at St. James’ Park
According to a tweet by Sky Sports’ Pete Graves (h/t The Sun), the representatives of Manchester United star Jesse Lingard were present at the most recent game of Newcastle United amidst talks of a transfer this winter.
The 28-year-old star is in the final year of his contract and could become a free agent by the end of the season. Although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he wants the Englishman to stay at Old Trafford beyond next summer, a new deal is yet to be agreed upon between the concerned parties.
However, this has not stopped other clubs to portray their interest in the player. Lingard has been linked with several clubs, including Barcelona, AC Milan, and the recently-turned cash-rich Newcastle United.
The Toon Army recently underwent a £300million takeover by the Saudi-led consortium and have been eyeing a deal for the Englishman. They have now received a boost in their chase of the winger as Lingard’s representatives were present at Newcastle’s game against Tottenham on the weekend.
A picture was also posted on Lingard’s ‘jlingz’ Instagram account, where it showcased their presence at the game. It is now being said that the representatives were present to ‘keep an eye on proceedings’, according to a tweet by Sky Sports’ Pete Graves (h/t The Sun).
The Tweet read (h/t The Sun):
“Interesting to see this pop up on Jesse Lingard’s ‘jlingz’ account on Instagram. I understand Lingard’s representatives were at St James’ Park yesterday keeping an eye on developments at NUFC.”

The United ace has suffered for game-time this season and is yet to start a Premier League game despite encouraging off-the-bench performances.
Regardless, it remains to be seen what decision Lingard makes over his future as increased game-time could provide him with the opportunity to showcase his talent more often and perhaps ensure a place on England’s squad to the 2022 World Cup.
