Barcelona prepared to take drastic measures to secure a transfer for Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland amidst Man United interest

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Express), Barcelona are prepared to mobilize their funds to complete a transfer for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland amidst Manchester United interest.

The 21-year-old has caught the eye of several clubs over the last year and a half, and a transfer frenzy could take place for his signature next summer. The fact that the centre-forward could become available for a fee in the range of £64million next summer makes him a good prospect, given his age and talent.

Barcelona are now said to be ready to take a punt on the Norwegian as they are ready to make the necessary funds available by agreeing on pay-cuts with their current players.

The Blaugrana outfit are thought to be bringing their wage bill down to 40% by the end of the current season. In fact, several high-profile players are also understood to be willing to ‘save’ the money, so as to use it to sign the Dortmund ace next summer.

This could be a problem for United, as the Red Devils have been keen on securing a deal for the youngster as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to reunite with his former player.

Edinson Cavani is a likely departure at the end of the season as his contract will expire and Haaland could be a great young replacement for the outgoing Uruguayan.

However, even if Barcelona fall out of the race, United would still have to fend off the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and rivals Man City to sign the Norway international.

Regardless, the ultimate decision is thought to be made by the Dortmund forward as United would be hoping that their name is on top of the youngster’s priority destinations.
