Nigel Jemson believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on thin ice at Manchester United
Speaking to This is Futbol, former Nottingham Forest striker Nigel Jemson feels Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to win trophies this season to save his job at Manchester United.
The Norwegian is yet to pick up some silverware at Old Trafford despite pulling off a pretty decent rebuild job in the last 2 and half years. United have reached an FA Cup and Europa League semi-final while they also reached the final of the latter competition last season.
However, what gets shadowed in the process is that Solskjaer’s side was knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in the group stage last season while they have also been knocked out of the EFL Cup this season. The UCL is still on the horizon, but their performances have not been all good.
With Liverpool, Man City, and Chelsea all having won a major trophy in the last two years, it remains to be seen how much time The Glazers provide the 48-year-old with.
Former Nottingham striker Nigel Jemson has now claimed that the Red Devils will sack Solskjaer if he fails to pick up trophies this season. Jemson told This is Futbol:
“If he doesn’t win anything, he’s gone. They need results for the investment they’ve put into the squad. Is it five years that would be without another trophy? That’s unheard of for Manchester United in recent years so huge pressure.”

The Old Trafford outfit spent a lot of money this summer to sign the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho. While they are yet to click together with the team, there is no saying how good they could get.
Both Ronaldo & Varane are serial winners, and only time will tell whether they can inject the same mentality within the squad and steer Solskjaer to his first trophy at the club.
