Danny Blind questions the identity of Manchester United under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Speaking in an interview (h/t The Metro), Danny Blind, the father of former Manchester United star Daley Blind, believes the club lack an identity under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Daley Blind was one of the main players under Louis Van Gaal during his tenure at Old Trafford as the pair picked up the FA Cup, while the Dutchman also went on to lift the Europa League trophy under Jose Mourinho as well.

However, his father is now of the opinion that the Manchester-based club lack an identity under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and that they are not able to dominate teams anymore.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to lift a piece of silverware at the club, while he has also endured some patchy form in the past month. Ex-Netherlands international Danny Blind pointed out that the reason for all this is the lack of a game plan. He told reporters in an interview (h/t Metro):

‘What is the identity of this Manchester United team? What is his plan? It is exactly that what is missing with Solskjaer. There is not a tactical plan. His team are not able to put pressure on their opponents like Manchester City.

‘They (United) have those qualities, and it often gets a result for the team. But it is never a team result. It has not been looking good in a number of matches. United struggle to be dominant – that is the whole problem.’

While Manchester City do have a clear plan sorted out for themselves, Pep Guardiola has spent more than half the time in the blue half of Manchester than Solskjaer has spent in the red one.

Regardless, the Norwegian will have to pull off some results soon if he hopes to stay at the Old Trafford outfit for the long haul.
