Richard Keys reveals Manchester United star Edinson Cavani was displeased with his substitution against Everton
Writing in his personal blog (h/t The Express), Sky Sports anchorman Richard Keys has revealed that Manchester United ace Edinson Cavani was puzzled and furious after being subbed off against Everton.
The 34-year-old has suffered for game-time at Old Trafford this season after the club brought in the likes of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. The latter is a direct competitor to Cavani for game-time, and so far, the Portuguese has featured in most games.
However, the Uruguayan was provided with a shock start against Everton on Saturday, which marked his first league start of the season. He also fared well in the game as he created the space for Anthony Martial to score the goal before half-time. Everton equalized after the hour mark and Solskjaer decided to bring on the cavalry.
Ronaldo and Sancho were brought on for Cavani and Martial, and this did not go down well with the 34-year-old centre-forward. Sky Sports anchorman Richard Keys has explained this situation in his blog (h/t The Express), stating:
“Solskjaer started his best centre-forward, but strangely chose to withdraw him after an hour. I’ve no idea why – but more significantly – Cavani was both puzzled and furious.
“My mole working near the dugouts tells me he stormed past Solskjaer when he came off but quickly changed his mind about ignoring the manager and shook hands. But make no mistake — he wasn’t happy, and there’s trouble brewing there.”

This might not be good news for the Norwegian boss because the last thing he wants right now is an unhappy squad. However, this was always going to happen, given the number of attackers in United’s ranks.
Solskjaer would be hoping to provide considerable game-time to the Uruguayan this season, but it remains to be seen whether that is realistically possible.
