Manchester United relaxed about Paul Pogba contract situation despite contract standoff
According to the Manchester Evening News (h/t The Express), Manchester United are not fretting over the contract situation of Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman is in the final 12 months of his current contract at Old Trafford, and speculation over him leaving the club at the end of the season is rife.
The player’s agent Mino Raiola has previously stated that nothing is confirmed over an extension and also opened up about a potential return to Juventus. Thus, there is no certainty over the 28-year-old signing a new deal at the club.
However, this is not exactly bothering United. The Manchester-based club are said to be relaxed over the future of the midfielder despite the fact that he would be able to talk to foreign clubs in January if he does not sign a new deal by then.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had also stated recently that it is the club’s job now to win trophies and convince the French international of their project here. In fact, there was wide speculation that the midfielder would leave the club this summer itself.
Paris Saint-Germain were said to be weighing up a move but later prioritized the signing of Barcelona sensation Lionel Messi. Regardless, the fact that he would be a free transfer has only increased the number of suitors with Real Madrid, and Juventus also thought to be interested.

Pogba has provided seven assists in six Premier League starts for the Old Trafford outfit so far, thereby making him a key aspect of their great start to the season.
If Solskjaer and co. plan on competing for the biggest trophies year-in and year-out, they would need to retain their best players– a category the 28-year-old certainly falls into.
