Manchester United handed blow as Borussia Dortmund prepare new deal for Erling Haaland
According to a tweet put out by Christian Falk of German publication BILD (h/t The Express), Borussia Dortmund are planning on offering Erling Haaland a mega-deal amidst Manchester United links.
The 21-year-old goal machine has been in unbelievable form for the German giants since completing his £17million move from RB Salzburg in January 2020.
It has taken little to no time for the Norwegian to adjust to a new league and a new country as he has racked up 68 goals and 19 assists in 67 appearances. Truly ridiculous numbers for any youngster, and it makes sense why Manchester United would try to orchestrate a deal for him.
Only turning 21 this year, the striker can become the main man at Old Trafford for a very long time to come while his goal-scoring feats can propel the Red Devils to their glory status once again.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has built an incredible squad at the club, and the secret to any big club’s success is providing continuous competition within the ranks. Haaland will certainly do so, and it would also be a financially viable move as he could be available for a fee in the region of £64-84million.
However, Dortmund are now ready to foil that plan. The Bundesliga club are ready to increase the Norwegian’s salary from €8milllion (£6.8million) to €15million (£12.8million), thereby nearly doubling the striker’s wages.

This would be a huge blow for Solskjaer and co, who would have been dreaming of a strike partnership between Cristiano Ronaldo and Haaland. Moreover, the Red Devils would also have to beat out the competition to sign him as Manchester City are also keen on a deal.
Thus, there are a lot of obstacles in this big-money move, and United may have to put in a lot of effort to get a deal over the line next summer.
