As an Evertonian growing up, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has no love for arch-rivals Liverpool. It would appear his son, Kai Rooney is also in the same boat.

According to Mirror, it was on full show as Kai scored four goals in an Under-12 clash against the Reds. While the performance was not enough to see us win, it provided a glimpse at the youngster’s potential.

The 11-year-old penned his first contract with the Red Devils in December 2020. United won the race to land him after his performances drew interest from numerous clubs.

Big shoes to fill?

This is not the first time that a member of the Rooney household has scored four goals for United. Wayne scored all four goals in a 4-0 victory over Hull City in the Premier League.

Wayne is a legendary name in United circles. He has netted 253 goals in 559 appearances for the club and is the Red Devils’ all-time leading goalscorer. Kai is clearly setting expectations rolling with his performances.

Kai is also an Evertonian like his father and is the eldest of four children. He already sent out a message to everyone curious at the United’s academy set-up earlier this year after scoring a hat-trick for the Under-11s against Stoke City last May.

The Red Devils won 6-3 on the night and Kai grabbed three assists as well. Clearly, a star was born on the field that night. Whether he will continue to p[progress through the ranks and go on to follow in his father’s footsteps remains to be seen.
