Transfer News: Manchester United ace Donny van de Beek linked with AC Milan and Juventus
According to transfer news from Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t ESPN), Manchester United midfielder, Donny van de Beek, is linked with a transfer move to AC Milan and Juventus.
The report adds that the 24-year-old midfielder is unhappy with his playing time at the club and is also courting interest from Spain. van de Beek has had a torrid time at Old Trafford since his move last summer.
The former Ajax midfielder is not a regular starter and is finding game time equally hard to come by this season. The Dutchman did not feature against Villarreal in their 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League and was visibly frustrated when it became clear that he was not being subbed on.
And now, the midfielder could move to Serie A in order to save his career. There isn’t a visible shortage of central midfielders at the club right now.
VDB to Serie A?
With Fred, Scott McTominay, and Nemanja Matic sharing game-time in the middle of the park, there have been times where Paul Pogba has had to play down the left flank. Moreover, Bruno Fernandes is a pinned starter in the number 10 role while Jesse Lingard has also stayed with the club beyond the summer transfer window.
In such a situation, van de Beek is finding it really hard to get starts under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. At 24, it’s not like he is a youngster who needs to wait for a few years before getting a crack at first-team football.
It says volumes about Solskjaer’s trust in the Dutchman when we look at the fact that Daniel James, a player no longer even at Manchester United, has more starts for the club this season than the central midfielder.
