Transfer News: Edinson Cavani eyeing Manchester United exit as Real Madrid prepare to swoop in
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Sun), Manchester United could lose Edinson Cavani in January as the Uruguayan is ready to leave the club amidst interest from Real Madrid.
The 34-year-old has endured a topsy-turvy start to the current season. After enjoying a great ending to last season where he led the Red Devils to the Europa League final, game-time has not come easily for the Uruguayan.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho’s addition to the current squad has made it impossible for the striker to play a full 90 minute game for the club, while he made only his first start of the season recently in the 1-1 draw against Everton at Old Trafford.
While that was the case, Cavani is yet to contribute to a single goal, although he has worked hard whenever he has featured. But it might not be too long before he departs the club. The 34-year-old is in the final year of his deal and will be a free agent next summer.
However, Real Madrid are weighing up a January move for the former Paris Saint Germain centre-forward. A 6-month loan deal is being eyed, which would see Cavani spending the last six months of his United career at the Spanish capital.
That is said to be the proposed offer, and the Uruguayan is also believed to be open to the move now as he has always wanted a move to La Liga, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Sun).

Given that the Old Trafford outfit are already eliminated from one cup competition, it does not seem as though they will be able to provide a lot of minutes to the striker. Thus, in a move that could suffice all three parties, a deal could be negotiated in the winter transfer window.
