Transfer News: Manchester United are ‘pressing’ for a move for AC Milan star Franck Kessie
According to Gazetta dello Sport (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United are ‘pressing’ ahead with a move for AC Milan ace Franck Kessie.
The 24-year-old has been an incredible asset for the Italian outfit in their aim to get back into the Champions League. Since joining in 2017, Kessie has gone on to make almost 200 appearances for the club and was also a crucial part of the side that finished in the Top 4 of the Serie A last season.
An active goal-provider from the midfield line as well, the Ivorian also contributed to 20 goals last season and Manchester United are now looking to get a deal over the line for the midfielder.
The Red Devils have a few uncertainties in their midfield line for the next couple of years. Paul Pogba could leave Old Trafford on a free transfer next season as he is yet to sign an extension on his current deal at the club. Nemanja Matic will also enter the final year of his contract next season.
Thus, getting in another midfielder would be a clever move by the 20-time English Champions. Moreover, it could not be that hard to orchestrate this move either. Kessie is in the final year of his contract at San Siro and is yet to sign an extension. If he does not sign one by January, United could approach the midfielder.

While the financial part of the deal does not seem too hard, the obstacle the Old Trafford outfit will face is that Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on a deal for the midfielder. Regardless, given the exciting project Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is building at United, they could convince the 24-year-old to make the move to the red half of Manchester.
