Cristiano Ronaldo asks Manchester United fans to push the team when the chips are down
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has praised the club’s fans for the stupendous support they gave the team against Villarreal.
The Spaniars came to Old Trafford with a plan and admittedly had the club on the ropes. Second half goals from Alex Telles and Ronaldo invariably turned the tide in our favour.
The winner, scored in stoppage time saw wild scenes in the stadium as players and fans went crazy. The points could prove pivotal come the business end of the group stages.
According to the report, Ronaldo admits that the players may not always be able to perform as expected. It is during these times that the club’s 12th man can come into play.
“The fans have this role as well when the team is in a difficult moment, they need to push us. This is why I say and ask them if they can do that.”
While the fans may not kick a ball themselves, they can egg on the United stars, providing them with a morale booster to get the job done. They did just that on Wednesday.
“They give us motivation to keep going and to keep running and keep believing. So, today, this is what we felt. We are so happy.”
United will face tougher challenges this season and will need their supporters more than ever. Hopefully they woo will step up and make themselves count. After all there is strength in unity.
