Transfer News: Manchester United plot move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
According to transfer news on Fichajes, Manchester United are interested in bringing in Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Old Trafford from Lazio.
The 26-year-old has been a mainstay at the Italian club for a long time now and has racked up over 250 games for the club. Last season, Milinkovic-Savic played a vital role in helping his side secure a 6th place finish in Serie A as he scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists in 32 league appearances.
United, who currently possess the likes of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay & Fred in the midfield line, are prioritizing a move for a midfielder next summer.
Additionally, Pogba has entered the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and has been linked with a move to Juventus, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint Germain. Van de Beek has also suffered for game-time at the club, while Nemanja Matic’s current deal will expire in 2023.
Thus, an addition in this area could do a world of good for Solskjaer. Declan Rice had been targeted initially by the Red Devils, however, it seems that the interest has shifted from the English midfielder.
West Ham’s expected £80-90million valuation of the 22-year-old is not a favourable figure for the Manchester-based club, and they are believed to be looking for cheaper alternatives outside the Premier League.

Milinkovic-Savic has reasonable experience of playing in European competitions while he has also been operating at a high level in Serie A for over 5 years now. Moreover, at 26, he could spend his prime years of football at Old Trafford.
Thus, with United looking to strengthen in midfield, signing the Serbian could be a smart move by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & co.
