Manchester United star Scott McTominay recalled for Scotland’s crunch World Cup qualifiers

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United star, Scott McTominay has been named in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Scotland take on Israel and Faroe Islands in a crucial twin encounter in their FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers. McTominay is one of his nation’s best players and has been named in the squad.

The Scots are currently in the second spot in Group F, training Denmark who are currently top. Israel are, however, just a point behind them and the upcoming tie between the pair could be a potential six-pointer.

McTominay missed out on the international fixtures earlier this month due to an injury. He has since not only recovered but also played himself into contention at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old has played four times for the Red Devils this season. United are gunning for glory this time around and McTominay may have a big role to play come to the business end of the season.

Fred and McTominay often start together in the Manchester United midfield.

Alongside John McGinn, McTominay is amongst Scotland’s best midfielders. With him back in action, Clarke and co. could feel more optimistic about their chances of beating Israel.

The United ace has represented his country 26 times so far. He is yet to score a single goal at the international level. Scotland entertain Israel at home on October 9th and there is no better occasion for the midfielder to break his duck.
