Manchester United receive boost as West Ham ready to listen to offers for Declan Rice

West Ham open to offers for Declan Rice amidst Manchester United links

According to Football Insider (h/t Sports Mole), West Ham United are ready to listen to offers for Declan Rice amidst links from Manchester United and Chelsea.

The 22-year-old midfield talent has made 152 appearances for West Ham since being promoted to the senior team back in 2017. Last season alone, Rice was a huge factor in the Hammers securing a 6th place finish and ensuring qualification in this season’s UEFA Europa League.

These performances earned Rice a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and the youngster featured in nearly every game as he helped the Three Lions to a place in the final of the competition.

Understandably, several clubs, including United were interested in procuring the midfielder’s services this summer, but West Ham did not budge on their £100million valuation of the Englishman.

Since then, the east London club have been trying to tie the 22-year-old down to a new contract, but Rice is said to have no intention of signing any extension offers.

The Red Devils were keen on a deal for the youngster as they looked to boost their midfield options. Nemanja Matic’s contract is set to expire in 2023, and making another addition in the role is a clever strategy.

Although the Old Trafford outfit were stumped by the midfielder’s £100million price tag, they could now go back in for him. The Hammers are ready to listen to offers for Rice in the region of £90million as they are not confident of his value rising in the years to come, according to Football Insider (h/t Sports Mole).

United will, however, face competition from Chelsea, who are also trying to lure their academy product back to Stamford Bridge. Thus, with both clubs vying for the 22-year-old’s signature, it remains to be seen where the youngster sees his future beyond this season.
