Joel Glazer claims there is still work to be done at Manchester United despite heavy summer spending

Speaking in the second Fans Forum meeting via a video link from the United States (h/t Express), Manchester United owner, Joel Glazer, hinted that the club can sign more players to improve the team on the pitch.

This was one of the most enthralling transfer windows Man United fans have had in a while. The club finally brought in Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £73million.

Raphael Varane also left Real Madrid to link up with his new teammates at Old Trafford as Man United agreed to pay £41million for him. And in what was a dream scenario for many Red Devils fans, Cristiano Ronaldo made his return to the club after 12 years.

The £20million United paid for him has already paid dividends, with the 36-year-old hitman already scoring 4 times in five games for the club.

More signings on the way?

But Joel Glazer, who spoke in the second Fans Forum meeting four months after the first one, admitted that the club can still improve on the pitch. This opens the possibilities of United bringing in more big names in the near future.

“The most important thing is always on-the-pitch success. We’re very happy with the summer. We can always improve. There’s always more work to be done.”

The meeting also saw fans of the Man United U21 side and the members of the Manchester United Women Supporters’ Club participate. And Glazer was happy that there was more representation in the meeting this time around.

“We said a few months ago it was important that we expand this Forum to have a more diverse representation of our fan base, and I think we’re taking good steps in that direction.”

Fans have been critical of the Glazers in the past but the spending they’ve done on transfers and the recently initiated Fans Forum meetings have gone some way in bridging the gap between the fans and the owners.
