Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho needs to start performing before Marcus Rashford returns from injury
Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Express), former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has warned Jadon Sancho needs to start performing for Manchester United before Marcus Rashford returns from injury.
The former Manchester City starlet was signed by the Old Trafford outfit earlier this summer for a whooping £73million fee. However, since making the move, things have not gone to plan for Sancho.
The English international has made 7 appearances across all competitions this season but has failed to contribute to a single goal during this period. In contrast, the likes of Mason Greenwood, Cristiano Ronaldo, and even Jesse Lingard seem to have found their feet this season.
Additionally, Bruno Fernandes continues to impress in the attacking midfield role, while Edinson Cavani will also feature for the club at some point. However, the main threat for Sancho would be Marcus Rashford, who could return after the international break in October.
Gabriel Agbonlahor believes Sancho could suffer for game-time once Rashford makes his return. The former Premier League forward told talkSPORT (h/t Express):
“I’m worried because the big man Rashford’s on his way back. If you’ve not started in the Premier League and Rashford’s coming back, then he’s (Sancho) going to be even further down the pecking order. Rashford will come straight back into the team with Greenwood on the right and Ronaldo in the middle. He’s got to start putting in performances before Rashford becomes available.”

There is a lot of pressure on the 21-year-old to perform on the big stage, and it would be too early to rule him off given his numbers from previous seasons.
Regardless, the competition in the ranks is going to be incredible once Rashford is back, and Sancho will need to pick up some of his Dortmund form if he wishes to play week-in and week-out for the Red Devils.
