Manchester United to witness £65million rise in wage bill after signing Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho, and Cristiano Ronaldo
According to The Sun, Manchester United are going to have a huge wage bill this summer due to a record £65m increase after making summer additions.
The Red Devils signed the likes of Raphael Varane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Jadon Sancho this summer– all highly rated stars in the world. Although they add incredible quality to the ranks, the downside is that they fetch hefty wages.
Club legend Ronaldo has already topped the wage bill as he is pocketing £480k-per-week and will apparently do so for the next five years as United have agreed to pay off his transfer fee in a five-year settlement to Juventus.
Jadon Sancho was the club’s long-term target, and although they signed him, it has come at a price. The Englishman is currently earning £350k-per-week at Old Trafford.
Further, Raphael Varane, who signed from Real Madrid, certainly did not come cheap. The French international is commanding a cool £340k-per-week, which amounts to £17.7m annually.
While these summer additions are the rise to a £65m increase, there are several other marquee players contributing to United’s total £387m wage bill. David de Gea, who has been the club’s starting goalkeeper for nearly a decade now, receives £375k-per-week.

Before this summer, Paul Pogba was behind De Gea as he was churning in £290k-per-week. Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani, both of whom might not be at the Manchester-based club next summer due to impending moves and contract resolutions, are earning 250k and 200k per week respectively.
Club captain Harry Maguire (190k-per-week) and midfield star Bruno Fernandes(180k-per-week) also command wealthy wages. Thus, while this would be a monstrous wage bill, given the quality in the squad, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping to rake in some silverware this season.
