Manchester United star Marcus Rashford targeting first-team return against Liverpool
According to the Daily Star, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is keen to make his first-team return from injury against arch-rivals Liverpool.
The Red Devils star is currently recovering from shoulder surgery that he underwent following England’s Euro 2020 campaign. He is yet to make a single appearance for the club this season.
Rashford was initially feared to be sidelined for three months. However, he continues to recover well and could return to action in three more weeks.
According to the report, the 23-year-old has set his sights on proving his fitness for the clash against Liverpool on 24 October at Old Trafford. Jurgen Klopp’s side have started the season strongly and are currently level on points with United.
The matchup at the Theatre of Dreams could prove to be a six-pointer in the title race and United will need their top players to step up. Rashford was one of the few players who escaped with some credit in the corresponding game last season when we lost 4-2.
He will hope to celebrate his comeback with a win this time around. It promises to be an excellent game with stars aplenty on both sides of the divide.
Despite Rashford’s absence, United have managed to win four of their first five Premier League games this season. While not all performances have been fool-proof, the return of Cristiano Ronaldo has added bite to the Red Devils attack.
The return of Rashford will only add more spice to a frontline that is already overwhelming on paper. His addition will hand Ole Gunnar Solskajer yet another match-winner to call upon.
