Transfer News: Barcelona are eager on a deal for Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba
According to Catalan outlet Sport (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United star Paul Pogba has been deemed as a ‘real target’ for Barcelona.
The 28-year-old has been on the radar of several clubs as he has entered into the final year of his contract this season. The French international is yet to sign a new deal at Old Trafford and could leave on a free transfer next summer.
However, one club that does view Pogba as a genuine target are La Liga giants Barcelona. Although Spanish outlet Fichajes had initially reported the Blaugrana’s interest in the midfielder, Sport (h/t Sport Witness), have now confirmed that the player is a ‘real target’ in the eyes of the Catalan club.
In fact, it is apparently not a one-sided interest. The Frenchman is also understood to be ‘seduced’ by the opportunity to play for the La Liga outfit. However, there could be some complications in this deal.
Barcelona cannot afford the huge wages Pogba is currently commanding at Old Trafford and there would need to be ‘an important economic effort’ on the midfielder’s part if he wishes to sign for the Catalonia side.
Moreover, they would also need to enter into negotiations with the 28-year-old’s agent Mino Raiola, and those discussions are deemed ‘not easy’.

However, while Barcelona are interested, United would be focusing on getting their superstar to sign a new deal as soon as possible.
Solskjaer and co would be aware that the Frenchman will be allowed to talk to foreign clubs in January if a new contract is not agreed by then. Additionally, given Pogba’s incredible start to the season, the Red Devils would want the midfielder to stay at the club beyond this season.
