Manchester United target Declan Rice likened to Roy Keane and Michael Carrick
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United legend, Teddy Sheringham has compared Declan Rice to Red Devils greats Roy Keane and Michael Carrick.
The 22-year-old is already one of the finest young midfielders in the world and has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Hammers are not keen to lose their star man on the cheap and have demanded a whopping £100m for his services.
Rice stayed on at the London Stadium this summer and was in action on Thursday night in the Europa League. The Englishman scored on the night as the Hammers defeated Dinamo Zagreb.
Sheringham admits he would like to see Rice join United. He does not believe the 22-year-old will stay on at West Ham and will seek pastures new.
“[He’s a player I see at a club like Manchester United] without a doubt.”
The United legend believes Rice would fit in well in the Red Devils midfield. He appears to have little doubt that the 22-year-old will continue to appear on the Red Devils’ radar.
“He’ll definitely be on Manchester United’s radar. He’s in the mould of Roy Keane and Michael Carrick, who were two top, top players, which you’ve got to have in midfield for Manchester United. So he’d easily fit in there.”
United face off West Ham twice over the coming few days. The Red Devils travel to London to take on them in the Premier League at the weekend ahead of the Carabao Cup clash at home in midweek.
It will hand them an opportunity to take a look at Rice ahead of a potential future move. If his performances so far are anything to go by, it is already a foregone conclusion.

The idea of a player having the best bits from both Keane and Carrick is interesting. While Sheringham is to an extent exaggerating, there is little doubt that Rice would add dynamism to the United midfield.
