Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka to be sentenced for driving offences in December
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to discover his sentence for driving offences this December.
The Red Devils star, last month, pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified. This follows the incident where he was caught not only without a licence but also insurance after being stopped by police on June 23 in Manchester.
As things stand, the defender is permitted to drive. This was because his ban was set aside until the trial. Wan Bissaka’s argument hinged on him claiming to be unaware of his ban during the incident.
A few days prior to the incident, the Leeds Magistrates’ Court had disqualified him for a period of six months. This happened after he failed to provide the details of a speeding offence in Yorkshire from September of 2020.
The player’s lawyers however claim that the letters went to his old address in Croydon, south London. Wan-Bissaka lived there during his time at Crystal Palace. He eventually joined United in the summer of 2019.
District Judge Bernard Begley set a trial date of December 20 at Manchester Magistrates’ Court. All eyes will be on Wan-Bissaka, who will now have to produce evidence in person that explains why he failed to provide the driver’s details for the speeding offence.
It has not been a good week for the right-back who left his side in a spot of bothering on the field as well. Wan-Bissaka’s sending off against Young Boys changed the tide of the game and the Eed Devils succumbed to a shock defeat.
Hopefully, he can get his act together, both on and off the field.
