Bruno Fernandes ready to sign new deal at Manchester United amidst Cristiano Ronaldo persuasion
According to The Sun (h/t Express), Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes is ‘primed’ to put pen to paper on a new deal at Old Trafford, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 36-year-old former Juventus star made a sensational return back to the Theatre of Dreams on deadline day this summer. It was said that Bruno Fernandes had played a vital role in convincing his Portuguese compatriot to make the switch from Turin to Manchester.
United benefitted largely from it as their club legend agreed to come back. However, the tables are going to slightly turn now as it is Ronaldo this time, who has persuaded the 27-year-old to sign a contract extension with the Old Trafford outfit, according to The Sun (h/t Express).
Even though Fernandes signed a five-year deal with the club when he joined in January 2020, United are ready to hand the attacking midfielder a new contract, which will lead to the player committing his future to the club until 2026.
It would be a vital contract extension, especially since Real Madrid and Barcelona have been tracking the Portuguese.
Fernandes has, however, been worthy of this extension as he has scored 44 goals and provided 26 assists in 85 appearances since he made the move from Sporting Lisbon to Manchester, with his latest assist coming in the Champions League defeat against Young Boys.

The 27-year-old’s new deal would see him get a raise of nearly £100,000 per week and would put him near the likes of Paul Pogba, David de Gea, and Cristiano Ronaldo on the wage bill. With Fernandes looking in fine form, he would be aiming to win his first piece of silverware at the club this season.
