Manchester United are underway with their negotiations over a new deal for Bruno Fernandes
According to O Jogo (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United remain in negotiations over a new contract for first-team ace Bruno Fernandes.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Red Devils from Sporting Lisbon in the winter transfer window of the 2019/20 season, has already begun talks over a new contract.
In the last year and a half, Fernandes has contributed to 44 goals and 25 assists in 84 appearances for the Old Trafford outfit. Last season alone, the Portuguese scored a ridiculous 28 goals and provided a further 17 assists in all competitions.
In doing so, the attacking midfielder helped the Manchester-based club to a 2nd place finish in the Premier League table and to the Europa League final, which they eventually lost to Villarreal on penalties.
His performances led to Fernando Santos naming the 27-year-old in the Portuguese squad for the Euros as Fernandes helped his nation to the Round of 16 of the competition, where they bowed out to Belgium.
Going into this season, the Portuguese has not lost any pace as he has scored 4 goals in 4 Premier League games, with his last goal coming on Saturday against Newcastle United as he netted with a sumptuous long-range strike.

Thus, the player is now being rewarded with a new contract and talks are still in negotiations despite rumours of a ‘standstill’. The 27-year-old is set to earn a salary that will bring him ‘very close’ to Paul Pogba in the wage bill, according to O Jogo (h/t Sport Witness).
This would certainly be positive news for United, who would be hoping that Fernandes can play a pivotal role in bringing home some silverware to the club this season.
