Cristiano Ronaldo could earn millions if he continues the same form for Manchester United
According to the Daily Star (h/t Express), Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo could earn millions due to a bumper clause in his contract if he keeps up the good form.
The 36-year-old, who re-signed for the club after 12 years on deadline-day of the summer transfer window, started the game against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Although it was not a surprise to many people in the stadium, the Portuguese scored the first goal on the day as he tapped in the ball into the back of the net after Newcastle keeper Freddie Woodman failed to handle to deal with a Mason Greenwood shot.
However, this was not the best of the bunch. After Newcastle equalized in the second half, Ronaldo turned up again and this time smashed in a left-footed shot in between the keeper’s legs to give the Red Devils the lead again. The game ended 4-1, with the 36-year-old scooping up the Man of the Match award on the day.
While many did not expect any less from the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward, such performances could guarantee the 36-year-old a huge pay-out at the Manchester-based club.
The Portuguese currently pockets £475,000-per-week at the club, which is sizably more than David de Gea’s £375,000-per-week or any other player in the Premier League, according to Daily Star (h/t Express).
However, the star striker could ‘top’ his income by nearly £1million if he wins his sixth Ballon d’Or or the UEFA Player of the Year award or if the Old Trafford outfit can win the 2021/22 Champions League, according to Daily Star (h/t Express).
