Manchester United are still interested in offering Bruno Fernandes a new deal at the club despite dismissal of release clause
According to The Mirror, Manchester United are still eager on a new contract for Bruno Fernandes despite obstacles in negotiations.
The Portuguese, who joined the club in the second half of the 2019/20 season, led the club’s desire to finish in the Top 4 that season. Last season, the Portuguese featured heavily for the club as he racked up 58 appearances and ended up scoring 28 goals and providing a further 17 assists in the process.
All in all, the 27-year-old has managed 43 goals and 25 assists in 83 appearances in his last year and a half at the Old Trafford outfit – impressive numbers for anybody in world football.
Moreover, he also helped the club finish runners-up in the Premier League last year, while he has also been instrumental in the Red Devils reaching the Europa League semi-finals and finals in the last two years, respectively, albeit losing to Spanish oppositions in both years.
With his performances being as good as they have been, United have been keen on tying the player down to a new deal, despite the Portuguese signing a five-year contract on his arrival.
As per The Sun (h/t Mirror), the 27-year-old could be offered a contract worth a staggering £300,000-per-week, but it has taken a while for the midfielder to sign it because of some obstacles.
Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinto, was keen on including a release clause in his contract, but the Old Trafford outfit refused it almost instantaneously, as per the Mirror.

With the midfielder having more than 2 years on his contract, it might not have seemed necessary for United to ‘cede’ to any demands while the player is also enjoying his time at the club. Thus, regardless of all this, the Manchester-based club remain eager on getting Fernandes to sign a new deal, should the Portuguese choose to accept it.
