Transfer News: Inter Milan still retain interest in Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard
According to transfer news from 90min.com (h/t Sempre Inter), Inter Milan are still retaining an interest in Manchester United playmaker, Jesse Lingard, in the hopes that he struggles for game-time this season.
The United academy graduate was heavily linked with an exit from Old Trafford this season and the Italian champions were amongst a number of teams keen on signing the 28-year-old.
But as it turned out, Lingard has stayed at the Red Devils until at least January 2022. However, the report mentions that I Nerazzurri are still keeping track of his situation in Manchester for the remainder of the campaign.
Lingard is expected to get reduced game-time with the presence of players such as Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, and Jadon Sancho in his position.
Lingard to Inter?
Able to play as a winger and a number 10, Lingard is not the first name in any of those positions. With the addition of Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo this season, competition for attacking spots in the team will only increase.
Lingard was deemed surplus to requirements this January when he was signed by West Ham United on loan. It was during his stint at the Hammers that he rediscovered his best form.
His performances even made Gareth Southgate consider his name for the England squad going to the 2020 UEFA Euros. But at 28, he is not a youth prospect anymore, and he would know that himself.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unlikely to favour him over the star names at his disposal and the player should understand that his best chance of consistent starts would come away from Old Trafford. It now remains to be seen if the Italian giants make an approach for him in the upcoming window.
