Transfer News: Anthony Elanga reveals he was ready to leave Manchester United on loan

Speaking to Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen (h/t Inside Futbol), Anthony Elanga said that he was ready to leave Manchester United on a loan this summer but is happy to stay nonetheless.

The Swedish starlet has shone on the U23 level, scoring 11 times in 29 games for the reserve team. He is one of United’s brightest academy players.

Many fans think he can be the next Mason Greenwood or Marcus Rashford- both talented first-team forwards to come through the Red Devils’ youth set-up. Elanga even has two senior appearances to his name.

He made his debut in a 1-2 loss against Leicester City towards the end of last season, and scored his first senior goal in a 2-1 Premier League win against Wolves shortly after.

Elanga happy to stay at MUFC

Elanga, being a young player on the verge of breaking into the first team, says that he was ready to depart the club in a temporary move this summer. Of course, no such move was sanctioned and he remains at the club for this season.

“I was ready if they wanted to loan me. As a young player you have to be ready, but I’m happy to be where I am at United now and I want to show them what I can do.”

He then added that he is ready to step up to the big stage again if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer calls upon him.

“I’m always ready if the coach calls me. I show what I can do in training and if I get the opportunity, I take it.”

But with Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho arriving, he might struggle to get minutes this season.
