Transfer News: Manchester United failed with ‘another’ bid for Kieran Trippier
According to German broadcaster Sport1 (h/t Inside Futbol), Manchester United failed with a ‘further’ bid for Kieran Trippier this summer.
The 30-year-old was on the radar of the Old Trafford outfit all summer but failed to make a move back to England after the Red Devils, and Atletico Madrid disagreed on the full-back’s valuation.
The Spanish outfit have been rigid on their €40million valuation of the player and have not listened to offers of anything below that number. United failed to lure the player with their first bid and were apparently also rejected with ‘another bid’ of €21million earlier this summer, according to German broadcaster Sport 1 (h/t Inside Futbol).
United have been keen on providing some competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the right-back role this summer and identified Trippier as an ideal option. Moreover, the fact that the former Tottenham man can feature on either side of the defence could have been helpful to the Old Trafford outfit.
However, the Red Devils have instead stuck with Diogo Dalot, who was on loan to AC Milan last season. The Portuguese performed well under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in pre-season, and the club opted to keep him.
Borussia Dortmund tried to sign the player on a loan deal in the last couple of days but the Old Trafford outfit blocked the move as they are keen on Dalot being the back-up to Wan-Bissaka this season.

Thus, it looks like United will no longer chase Trippier and keep Dalot at the club, who can prove to be a very crucial player over the course of the season, especially after the club sanctioned loan moves for the likes of Ethan Laird, Axel Tuanzebe, and Brandon Williams.
