Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refuses to rule out Manchester United departures this summer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Manchester United have had a brilliant summer transfer window that has seen them land three world-class players.

Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo will all improve the Red Devils starting XI, giving them further impetus to ending the trophyless run. Given the incomings so far, United appear to be ready to listen to offers for some of their players who have fallen down the pecking order.

According to Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer confirmed as much speaking after United’s 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers yesterday. The Red Devils boss admits that the summer signings could very well push certain players further down the order.

“There have been a couple of enquiries for some of our players and with the signing of Cristiano we may give less playing time to a few.”

One of the players who could be on his way out is Daniel James. The Welsh winger was amongst Solskjaer’s first signings at United and even made a surprise start at the Molineux on Sunday.

If reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano is to be believed, James might well have played his last game in red. The winger is currently in talks with Leeds United and could make the move permanent in the remaining hours this summer.

Diogo Dalot for one looks set to stay on despite interest from Borussia Dortmund. The young Portuguese will offer backup to Aaron Wan-Bisska this season.

Amad Diallo also looked set to leave on loan to Feyenoord but for an injury suffered during training. He now looks set to spend at least the first half of the season at Old Trafford. Whether the renewed effort will be made to secure him in January remains to be seen.

United now have a world-class squad at their disposal and will need to win at least one trophy this summer. While they may have won against Wolves, the performance was hardly praiseworthy and largely depended on the opposition not taking their chances.

The big names may be on board but the performances will need to pick up if we are serious about succeeding on the pitch.
