Diogo Dalot is not leaving Manchester United this summer
According to The Sun, Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked a move for Diogo Dalot this season after the defender was close to joining Borussia Dortmund.
The German outfit were trying to negotiate a loan deal for the 22-year-old, however, it failed to go through after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer intervened and blocked a move.
Although the Red Devils have been keen on signing Kieran Trippier, a move has failed to materialize over the course of the summer as the Old Trafford outfit have been unwilling to match the £28million valuation of Atletico Madrid.
Thus, with Trippier not making the move to Manchester, Dalot would be a pivotal asset to the club. Although he has only managed 21 Premier League appearances since his £19million move in 2018, he has been good for the Red Devils during their pre-season campaign this year.
Dalot featured in pre-season against newly-promoted Brentford while he also scored a goal against Everton in United’s last pre-season game.
While he was an unused substitute for the first two Premier League games of the season, Dalot was brought on late against Wolves to defend the club’s slender lead and the Portuguese did his job in helping his team over the line.

Given that Brandon Williams, Ethan Laird, and Axel Tuanzebe have left the club on loan moves this season, Dalot is the only backup option to Aaron wan-Bissaka in the right-back role.
Moreover, United will be actively competing in four competitions this year, for which they would need quality players all around the squad. The 22-year-old has proved his worth to Solskjaer and it seems like the Portuguese will remain at Old Trafford beyond deadline day.
