Manchester United confirm when Cristiano Ronaldo will arrive at Old Trafford
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have confirmed when Cristiano Ronaldo is set to arrive at the club for his second coming.
United stunned the footballing world when they announced a deal to bring back the Portuguese superstar to the club last week. The 36-year-old, despite his age, remains a legend of the game and a player capable of competing with the best.
Currently set to meet up with the Portuguese squad for the international break, Ronaldo could be set to make his United debut against Newcastle United on 11 September. One wouldn’t put it past him to net against a weak Magpies side.
According to the report, United have until 11 pm on Tuesday to complete their €23million deal for Ronaldo. The player has so far completed his medical and is inching closer to finish the switch.
“Hopefully he’ll be involved ASAP.”
Solskjaer, for one, is keen to make use of the attacker from the go. The Norwegian goes on to admit that Ronaldo could be set for a run out in the first team. Who it will come at the cost of remains to be seen.
“He’s not signed to sit on the bench. He’s going to make us a better team.”
The 36-year-old appears to have signed a two-year deal that will see him stay on until 2023. Whether it includes the option of a one-year extension remains to be seen.
Curiously Ronaldo’s salary appears to be linked to a number of variables. Just what they remain to be seen. While the 36-year-old is likely to be paid handsomely, United may have taken the smart route by offering him performance-related add ons. Time will tell whether that is the case.
