Transfer News: Manchester United move forward for Eduardo Camavinga

According to news from Duncan Castles on the Transfer Window Podcast, Manchester United are moving forward in their pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga. United have held an interest in the player for a while but are now ready to ramp up their efforts.

United’s display at Southampton went on to prove a couple of things. Nemanja Matic is getting slow and cannot start these sorts of games on a regular basis to protect the backline. For all his industry, Fred remains a weak link in the midfield with his stray passes and lack of mobility. That points to the fact that United do indeed need a new defensive midfielder.

Hence, it was no surprise to see them getting linked with the talented Eduardo Camavinga. The Rennes starlet has become a household name in two seasons and already is a regular in the side. However, his contract ends in 2022, meaning that clubs such as United are already after the defensive midfielder.

Now, with so little time left, United are hoping to max out their efforts in signing a midfielder and they are ready to step up their interest in Camavinga. He is currently valued at £34.3m by the French club but faces an uncertain future there.

“I’m told that they have accelerated their interest in Eduardo Camavinga over the last week.”

United might just be coming to the party a bit too late. Pulling off a deal of this calibre is a difficult task with literally just three days available. This might still be one to keep an eye on if United do pull a rabbit out of the hat.
