Ex-PL goalkeeper believes Manchester United will strengthen even further before transfer deadline
Speaking in an interview with Football Insider’s Dylan Childs, former Tottenham Hotspur and England goalkeeper, Paul Robinson, stated that he thinks Manchester United will strengthen in midfield the summer transfer window.
According to Fabrizio Romano (h/t Football Insider) last week, Saul Niguez of Atletico Madrid and Eduardo Camavinga of Rennes are two midfielders that have been on the club’s radar.
The Red Devils already signed Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and most recently, Cristiano Ronaldo. But despite the massive additions all across the pitch, Robinson feels that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will make signings in midfield.
“I think United will strengthen in midfield. Van de Beek hasn’t been the right fit at United. He’s struggled and hasn’t played particularly well when he has managed to get on the pitch.”
What next for United?
Apart from criticizing Donny van de Beek, Robinson then posited that Jesse Lingard’s potential departure this summer could also free up another position to be filled.
“Manchester United is a huge club and some people struggle. They will be looking at the midfield area as one they need to strengthen in order to be in contention. Jesse Lingard’s departure could also free up another position.”
It wouldn’t harm the club to bring in a quality holding midfielder. Scott McTominay is nursing an injury while Fred has been less than impressive on several occasions.

It remains to be seen if United still have it in them to spend even more despite a massive window already, but if they do, fans would be even more confident of their team’s chances of winning their first league title since Sir Alex Ferguson left.
