Manchester United legend backs Cristiano Ronaldo to not make move to city rivals
According to The Sun (h/t Give Me Sport), Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney does not feel that Cristiano Ronaldo will complete a move to Manchester City.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, who has scored goals and broken records everywhere he has gone, is linked with a move to Manchester City from his current club, Juventus.
However, back in the day, Cristiano Ronaldo was quite a player for Manchester United as it was the Red Devils, who gave the Portuguese a platform to perform on the world stage. Ronaldo went on to win 3 Premier League titles and a Champions League with the Red Devils, while he also won the Ballon d’Or in 2008 after his immense performances in the 2007/08 season.
Rooney shared a dressing room with Ronaldo for nearly half a decade, and the pair had a good partnership on the pitch. Thus, given that the two shared so much time together, Rooney now believes that the Portuguese will not taint his legacy at United by joining arch-rivals, Man City.
He told The Sun (h/t Give Me Sport):
“I have my doubts, Cristiano has a great legacy at United.
“I don’t think he’s going to move to Manchester City. Of course, in football, you never know, and in the past, Peter Schmeichel went to City, as did Andrew Cole and Mark Hughes was their manager. But I don’t think somebody with Cristiano’s legacy would do that”.

Although talks between Juventus and Manchester City are still going on, it is a possibility that the 36-year-old could make a move to the blue half of Manchester before the end of the month.
While this could ruffle a few feathers amongst the Old Trafford faithful, it remains to be seen whether a move will, in fact, materialize before the transfer window shuts on the 31st of August.
