Fans go berserk as Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Manchester United

What a day of twists and turns but Cristiano Ronaldo is back at Manchester United. The Portuguese talisman will be making his much-clamoured return to Old Trafford after United agreed on a deal in principle with Juventus.

A fee of £19.4million will be paid by Manchester United and the forward will sign a two year deal with the club. Wages of £480,000-per-week were tabled as well. Ronaldo had seemingly signalled that he wanted to leave Juventus and manager Max Allegri also publicly spoke about the same.

However, things could have been very different as it was City that were assumed to be leading the race since yesterday. Those talks fell through today as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and City pulled out of the race. That gave United the initiative after fans rose up against the idea that Ronaldo could possibly head to their ‘noisy neighbours’.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also gave hints during his recent press conference that United were open to the idea of bringing him back. It is indeed a day United fans have been dreaming for more than a decade that their Old Trafford darling returns to the club for a swansong.

After Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane’s arrivals, Ronaldo’s signing could well be that piece of the puzzle needed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to win his first trophy at the club as a manager.

Here is how Ronaldo’s return to United broke the internet.
