Manchester United are ready to make a move for a centre-forward next summer
According to ESPN Journalist Rob Dawson, Manchester United are already making plans to sign a striker next summer.
The Red Devils, who have strengthened in the winger and centre-back roles by signing Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, are keen on making additions in the centre-forward role next summer.
United’s current centre-forward in Edinson Cavani is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, while Anthony Martial was linked with a move away from the club this summer. In such a scenario, the club could be interested in a marquee forward, especially since three of them could be available next summer.
ESPN journalist Rob Dawson confirmed the news and provided a little more detail on which strikers the Old Trafford outfit are targeting next summer. Dawson wrote on his official Twitter handle:
“Man United have already discussed the possibility of signing a striker next summer when both Kane and Haaland could be looking to move. And Mbappe, if Real Madrid don’t get him before the deadline.”
Harry Kane, who was linked with a move to Manchester City this summer, has confirmed that he will be staying at Tottenham this season. It remains to be seen if the Englishman will choose to move next summer.
Erling Haaland, on the other hand, will have a release clause of £64million starting January itself, making him a possible option for United.
Lastly, Kylian Mbappe, who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, could be available on a free transfer next summer. Thus, if a move for the Spanish giants does not go through by the 31st of August, the Manchester-based could be in a situation where Mbappe considers a move away from Paris next year.
