Player News: Manchester United star Marcus Rashford returns to Carrington

As confirmed by the club’s official site, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is back at Carrington training ground as he continues his recovery from surgery.

The United number 10 was one of the club’s top players last summer and is expected to play a similar role this time around as well. He underwent surgery on a long-running injury after the Euros and is currently recuperating.

Rashford played more than half of the 2020/21 campaign through injury. It was ultimately decided that it could not continue and the surgery was recommended. The player does however stand to miss the first few weeks of the season owing to it.

Solskjaer confirmed that Rashford is happy with how the surgery went. He appears to be keen to return to action and has been frequenting the gym in order to ramp up his fitness levels.

“He seemed very happy with the surgery. He’s working in the gym we see him every day so he’ll be chomping at the bit when it gets nearer to the time when he can come back.”

As things stand, there is no fixed date as to the Englishman’s return. United will hope it will be sooner rather than later as they look to make a good start to the season.

At the same time, Solskajer should ensure that the player is fully ready before being thrown onto the field. The Norwegian has to shoulder some responsibility for continuing to play Rashford last season in spite of his injuries.

At 23, Rashford is already a veteran and has made 271 appearances for the Red Devils. With the majority of his career still ahead of him, there is much yet to be written in his chapter at Old Trafford.

His return to action will be much anticipated but it is best to be patient until he is at a hundred per cent. The rest and rehabilitation will do a player who has often pushed his boundaries much good.
