Transfer News: Manchester United target Declan Rice unhappy with West Ham
According to The Telegraph, Declan Rice is unhappy with West Ham United for slapping a steep £100m price tag amid interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.
Rice has grown into one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League over the years, and has established himself as a mainstay for club and country. Naturally, there has been plenty of interest in him, mostly from Chelsea and Manchester United.
However, both the clubs were put off by his massive £100m valuation, which has left Rice frustrated. The 22-year-old remains committed to West Ham United but is unhappy that he was priced out of a move to a club where he could challenge for trophies.

While West Ham made it to the Europa League for this term, they are yet to make a single major permanent transfer, with the transfer deadline day just over a week away. With his ambitions not being met, the 22-year-old is now set to refuse any attempts from the club to extend his contract, having already refused two offers. (h/t The Telegraph)
The report further adds that, had Rice been valued somewhere around the £60m-£70m mark, Manchester United would have made a bid for him, as would Chelsea. In addition, Manchester City are also expected to throw their hat in the ring should he become available for a transfer.
It is also claimed that Manchester United may ask for the 22-year-old England international this summer itself should West Ham make an approach for Jesse Lingard after he impressed on loan with the Hammers earlier this year.

Rice still has three years left on his contract, which does put West Ham in a strong position. However, if he decides not to pen an extension, they may well be forced to consider their stance in a year or two.
And, that could be the ideal time for Manchester United to swoop in for the England international. With Nemanja Matic in the final phase of his career at 33, the Red Devils will need a long-term replacement and Rice would be a solid choice given his proven pedigree and quality.
