Transfer News: Manchester United starlet James Garner set for medical ahead of Nottingham Forest loan
According to The Mirror, Manchester United starlet, James Garner, could be all set to undergo his medical ahead of the loan switch to Nottingham Forest.
Nicknamed the new Michael Carrick, the United starlet is one of the best talents to come out of our Academy in recent years. While he is yet to establish himself as a regular first-teamer, loan spells elsewhere have shown promise.
The youngster was initially sent out on loan to Championship side Watford last summer but failed to play regularly at Vicarage Road and was recalled in January. He was then immediately loaned out to another Championship side, Nottingham Forest, where he enjoyed more success.
With four goals in 20 games, his performances left an excellent impression on Forest boss Chris Hughton. (h/t Mirror)
A reunion is on the cards as the player inches closer to a return to the City Ground. While a move to another Premier League side would be preferable, one had not been forthcoming. Garner is keen to return to Forest after enjoying his spell at the club.
Garner looks set to have his medical in the coming days ahead of the return to Forest. He is set to sign a new deal at United before embarking on another loan adventure.
It does not just preserve his value but also shows the faith the club has in him. United are hopeful that another spell out on loan will help further Garner’s development.
Garner has certainly attracted much interest from a number of clubs. The likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Norwich City and Scottish champions Rangers are also interested in his services. Nottingham, however, appears to have won the race for his signature.

With Paul Pogba set to stay on this summer, United have plenty of options to choose from in midfield. While Garner could get minutes should be stay put, it will be more of a token gesture than anything substantial. The loan move has the potential to be a win-win for all parties involved.
