Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer features in the Top 10 list of the UEFA Manager of the Year award

As per the details listed on UEFA’s official website, Manchester United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been ranked 9th in the standings of the UEFA Manager of the Year.

The Norwegian had a largely productive season last year as he guided the Red Devils to a second-place finish in the Premier League table, while he also took the Manchester-based outfit to the final of the Europa League, where they bowed out to Villarreal on penalties.

United also reached the semi-final of the Carabao Cup while they also crashed out in the quarter-final of the FA Cup.

Thus, with the Red Devils failing to win a trophy this year, Solskjaer failed to be shortlisted into the Top 3 managers, which were Thomas Tuchel, Pep Guardiola, and Roberto Mancini.

Tuchel picked up the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup, he also reached the final of the FA Cup. Pep Guardiola won the Carabao Cup, the Premier League, and reached the final of the Champions League. Roberto Mancini guided Italy to victory in the European Championships.

Thus, while Solskjaer did not manage to win a single trophy, the Norwegian did finish in the Top 10, which is a great achievement. The former United forward was also rewarded with a new three-year contract at Old Trafford earlier this summer.

Moreover, the club have also made heavy investments in the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer, which in turn, have given Solskjaer a much better chance to win trophies this year.

The Red Devils are also currently top of the Premier League table after they managed to win their season opener against Leeds United last weekend and perhaps this could be the year that the Premier League trophy returns to Old Trafford– something that has failed to happen since they won it in 2013.
