“Keep smiling, stay positive”- Solskjaer makes classy gesture for terminally ill Man United fan

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer grants VIP access for an upcoming match to terminally ill Manchester United fan

According to Belfast Live, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made an excellent gesture to a fan who is suffering from stomach cancer.

37-year-old Paul Walker, a father of four from Lisburn was informed last month of his impending condition. Unfortunately, he has been given four months to live. Walker is determined to make the most of his time left and is keen to visit Old Trafford once again.

Tickets were donated to the cause following an appeal from his friend. The club itself has now come forward to give Paul “VIP Treatment” when he goes to the game on September 11. He will also be allowed to meet the players and Solskjaer should COVID restrictions permit. (h/t Belfast Live)

Solskjaer also sent Walker a personal message and revealed that the club’s best wishes are with him. The Norwegian also made use of the opportunity to invite the fan to a matchday experience like no other.

“Hi Paul, We understand you are going through a difficult time at the moment and on behalf of everyone at Man United, our thoughts are with you.”

A long time fan of the club, we hope Walker gets to live his dream and that United will give him a night to remember. Old Trafford is the place where dreams come true and few who have been there will disagree.

“We are all at the club looking forward to welcoming you to Old Trafford and helping you fulfil one of your life goals, so keep smiling, stay positive and enjoy the game.”

Paul’s friend George Keenan admits that the family were very thankful for all of the support that they have received so far. A fundraiser for his children has so far raised over £11,000.

They were also pleasantly surprised at United’s response and are thankful for their efforts in reaching out to Walker. It is good to see United remain invested in their fans who need them.
