Manchester United dealt huge blow as Atletico Madrid reveal stance on Kieran Trippier
According to AS (h/t The Sun), Atletico Madrid are set to stop listening to offers for Kieran Trippier this summer amidst rumours linking the player to Manchester United.
Manchester United, who kicked off their season on the weekend with a 5-1 victory over Leeds United, have done incredible business in the market this summer.
The Red Devils have wrapped up the £73million signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund while they have also signed 4-time Champions League winner Raphael Varane from Real Madrid in a move worth £42million. Additionally, they also brought in goalkeeper Tom Heaton on a free transfer.
However, the Old Trafford outfit have been touted to make a couple of more signings this summer in the form of a central midfielder and a right back.
While the plan for the former is not clear as of yet, United have actively tried to sign Kieran Trippier for the right-back slot as they hope to provide more competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka – the current occupant of the position.
United had a bid of £10million rejected earlier in June for the former Tottenham player as Atletico stayed steady on their £35million valuation of the player. However, things have changed now. The Spanish outfit are altogether not going to listen to any offers for the player unless somebody comes in and pays them £51million for the player.

United, who have already shelled out nearly £115million on transfers this summer, might not be too keen on splashing the cash again. Moreover, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been said to be pleased with Diogo Dalot’s performances in pre-season and might utilize the Portuguese as a backup to Wan-Bissaka.
Although United have Dalot, giving up on Trippier would be a blow for them as he was a transfer target for them through the summer. His experience and attacking instincts from the full-back position would have added an extra dimension to the club’s wing-play.
