Transfer News: Metz president set to discuss future of Manchester United-linked Pape Matar Sarr
As per a tweet by Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, FC Metz president Bernard Serin is flying into the UK for talks regarding Manchester United transfer target, Pape Matar Sarr.
The 18-year-old midfielder is one of the top prospects in Ligue 1 right now. He has already scored four times in 27 games for the senior side at his young age, and can play anywhere in the centre of the park.
The Senegalese international is rated highly by his club, who value him at around €40million. And he has no shortages of suitors as well, with United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Chelsea linked with the midfielder.
According to Solhekol, Metz’s president is flying into the United Kingdom in order to hold talks with three Premier League clubs for Sarr.
Sarr to England?
“FC Metz president Bernard Serin flying into Stansted airport this morning for talks with three Premier League chairmen about Pape Mate Sarr. 18-year-old midfielder one of best young players in France. Valued at €40m. Linked with Man City, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Man United.”
One of the wisest ways to conduct transfer business is signing starlets while their valuation is reasonable, even if the first team does not need strengthening for the time being.
United arguably have no immediate need for Sarr. Fred, Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, and Nemanja Matic can hold down the fort in midfield under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

But Sarr, at 18, could be one for the future and a potential replacement for any senior United midfielder that goes on to leave the club – whenever that is and whoever that may be. This looks like one potential transfer deal to keep an eye on for United fans.
